En el presente trabajo, se abordan aspectos relacionados con las plataformas virtuales de aprendizaje. Presenta ideas acerca del rol del docente en la sociedad digital, así como, ejemplos de los usos más importantes de los ambientes virtuales de aprendizaje (AVA), como, por ejemplo la educación del estudiante, la formación del profesor y la capacitación del personal administrativo. Además, plantea un esbozo de cómo se implementa a nivel técnico, una plataforma digital de cursos en línea.
