Abstract

Isla San Pedro Nolasco (ISPN) is an exhumed rock block located on the eastern margin of the Pacific-North American plate boundary in the Gulf of California (GC), delimited by two dextral faults. The ISPN is composed of only late Miocene intrusive rocks, characterized by occurrence of a granitoid-dioritoid crystalline rock, intruded by a swarm of intermediate to felsic hypovolcanic injections. In this work, satellite images, a geographic information system, and some fieldworks were used for the elaboration of the ISPN first semi detailed Geological map. The geological cartography allowed to define the distribution of the lithological units from ISPN, as well as to identify the main geological structures that affect. Finally, the present work highlights the geological history of the ISPN, as a unique intrusive body of its kind along the GC.
